National Nutrition Month is an annual education observance hosted by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. It is celebrated each year in the month of March and focuses on making knowledgeable food choices, developing physical activity habits, and delivering nutrition education messages.

A new theme for the month is picked each year. In 2023 the theme is "Fuel for the Future". This theme encourages eating with sustainability in mind and making choices that benefit both health and the environment.

  • Week 1: Eat with the environment in mind.
  • Week 2: See a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)
  • Week 3: Stay nourished and save money.
  • Week 4: Eat a variety of foods from all food groups.

Here are a few other ways to participate in National Nutrition Month that can continue into healthy habits beyond the month:

  • Follow food safety guidelines.
  • Try a new food or flavor.
  • Try different combinations of foods.
  • Set a regular mealtime.
  • Donate to a local food pantry or shelter.
  • Engage in regular physical activity.
  • Start the day with breakfast.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Pay attention to the shelf life of foods.
  • Consider composting or growing a vegetable garden if possible.
  • Avoid eating while distracted.
